Prepare for a spectacular trek at the foot of the imposing snow-capped Ausangate, the highest sacred mountain in Cusco. This circuit will take you through a pristine Andean landscape to discover a series of stunningly colored lagoons, ranging from bright turquoise to deep green, each with its own magic and charm.

Itinerary

Activity #1 - Early Morning Pickup in Cusco

Hotel Pickup: Our guide and transportation will pick you up very early, between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM, from your hotel in the historic center of Cusco. This early start is essential to make the most of the day in the mountains and complete the trek with ample time.

Activity #2 - Journey to Pacchanta and Breakfast

After a journey of about three hours, we will arrive in the district of Tinke. From there, we will take a short detour to the community of Pacchanta (4,300 m / 14,107 ft), the starting point of our trek. Before we begin, we will enjoy a nutritious Andean breakfast to fuel up for the challenge ahead.

Activity #3 - Start of the 7 Lagoons Circuit

Around 8:30 AM, we will begin our trek. The trail will lead us on a circuit lasting approximately 4 to 5 hours (round trip). From the very first moment, you will be surrounded by a breathtaking landscape, with the majestic snow-capped Ausangate dominating the horizon and herds of alpacas and llamas grazing freely on the high Andean plains.

Activity #4 - Exploring the Sacred Lagoons

During the trek, we will visit a series of glacial lagoons, each with a unique coloration. Among the most notable are Pucacocha, Patacocha, Alqacocha, Qomercocha, Orco Otorongo, China Otorongo, and Azul Cocha. Your guide will explain the importance of these lagoons and the Ausangate mountain (Apu) in the Andean worldview. You will have plenty of time to take spectacular photographs and connect with the powerful energy of the place.

Activity #5 - Return and Hot Springs in Pacchanta

After completing the circuit and marveling at the lagoons, we will begin our return hike to the community of Pacchanta. Upon arrival, you will have the perfect reward for your tired muscles: the opportunity to relax in the town’s natural thermal waters, with a direct view of the imposing Ausangate. It is a truly revitalizing experience.

Activity #6 - Lunch in the Community

After relaxing in the hot springs, we will enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the residents of the Pacchanta community. This will be an excellent opportunity to taste local cuisine and replenish the energy spent during the hike.

Activity #7 - Return Journey to Cusco

With body and spirit renewed, we will board our transportation to begin the journey back to the city of Cusco. The return trip takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. You can use this time to rest and reminisce about the incredible landscapes you have just witnessed.

Activity #8 - Arrival in Cusco

We will arrive back in Cusco between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM. The tour will conclude with a drop-off at a central point in the city (near the Plaza de Armas), from where you can easily return to your accommodation.
