After a journey of about three hours, we will arrive in the district of Tinke. From there, we will take a short detour to the community of Pacchanta (4,300 m / 14,107 ft), the starting point of our trek. Before we begin, we will enjoy a nutritious Andean breakfast to fuel up for the challenge ahead.
Around 8:30 AM, we will begin our trek. The trail will lead us on a circuit lasting approximately 4 to 5 hours (round trip). From the very first moment, you will be surrounded by a breathtaking landscape, with the majestic snow-capped Ausangate dominating the horizon and herds of alpacas and llamas grazing freely on the high Andean plains.
During the trek, we will visit a series of glacial lagoons, each with a unique coloration. Among the most notable are Pucacocha, Patacocha, Alqacocha, Qomercocha, Orco Otorongo, China Otorongo, and Azul Cocha. Your guide will explain the importance of these lagoons and the Ausangate mountain (Apu) in the Andean worldview. After completing the circuit and marveling at the lagoons, we will begin our return hike to the community of Pacchanta. It is a truly revitalizing experience.
After relaxing in the hot springs, we will enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the residents of the Pacchanta community. This will be an excellent opportunity to taste local cuisine and replenish the energy spent during the hike.
With body and spirit renewed, we will board our transportation to begin the journey back to the city of Cusco. The return trip takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. You can use this time to rest and reminisce about the incredible landscapes you have just witnessed.
We will arrive back in Cusco between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM. The tour will conclude with a drop-off at a central point in the city (near the Plaza de Armas), from where you can easily return to your accommodation.
