The day begins with a pickup from your hotel at 5:15 AM in our comfortable tourist transport. We will embark on a scenic 2-hour drive to the Ollantaytambo station, making short stops along the way to enjoy the beautiful morning views of the Sacred Valley.
In Ollantaytambo, you will board the Expedition train at 7:45 AM. Settle in for a breathtaking journey of 1 hour and 35 minutes, following the course of the Urubamba River as the landscape transforms from Andean valleys to the lush cloud forest that surrounds Machu Picchu.
At 9:15 AM, you will arrive in the vibrant town of Aguas Calientes. Our staff will be waiting for you at the station exit to greet you, provide directions, and accompany you to the bus station for the next leg of your adventure.
You will board the Consettur bus for a 25-minute ride up a winding road with incredible views of the canyon below. Once you reach the top, your assigned guide will be waiting for you at the final bus stop to begin your tour.
You will enter the wonderful citadel of Machu Picchu for a comprehensive 2-hour guided tour. Your guide will lead you through the main circuit, exploring its most important temples, plazas, and ceremonial sites while sharing the history and mysteries of the Inca civilization.
After the guided visit, your guide will provide instructions for you to take the bus back down to the town of Aguas Calientes. Here, you can enjoy lunch on your own and spend your free afternoon exploring the town’s lively artisan market and other sites.
At 3:50 PM, you will head to the train station to board the Expedition train at 4:22 PM for the scenic return trip to Ollantaytambo.
Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo around 6:00 PM, our driver will be waiting to take you back to Cusco in our private transport. The tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or the Plaza de Armas around 8:00 PM, ending an unforgettable day.
